You don't need a sales team or a paid intent-data platform to act on buyer signals. Here's a lightweight manual system any founder can run.
The MQL model is fading because most of the buying decision now happens before a form ever gets filled out.

Check it weekly, manually
A five-minute glance at whatever analytics tool you already use is enough, no new software required.
Timing beats sophistication
A short, personal note sent while someone's actively evaluating beats a generic newsletter every time.
Signal-based selling sounds like something that needs a paid intent-data platform sitting on top of your CRM. It doesn't, not at the scale a solo founder operates at. It requires noticing signals you already have sitting in front of you and acting on them faster than you currently do, which is mostly a discipline problem, not a tooling one.
Step one is picking a single signal to watch. Repeat pricing page visits within seven days is a strong, easy-to-track place to start, since most analytics tools already surface this without any setup. Step two is setting a weekly check, a five-minute glance at whatever dashboard you already have open is genuinely enough, you don't need a live alert system for this.
Step three is building one outreach template triggered by that signal, short, personal, referencing what they're likely weighing up, not an automated drip that reads like every other automated drip they've gotten this month. Step four is tracking it for a full month and comparing honestly against how your cold outreach performs over the same period.

The advantage here was never sophistication. It's timing. A generic newsletter reaches everyone at exactly the same moment regardless of where they are in their own decision, which is why open rates keep sliding across the board. A signal-triggered note reaches someone while they're actively evaluating you, which is a fundamentally different conversation to have, even if the message itself is short and plainly written.

You don't need more tools stacked on top of what you're already running. You need to act, a little faster than you currently do, on the signal you're already sitting on.
